		<description>'gentoo all-generic-ide' works all right with intel dp965lt board, ide cd-rom a sata hard drive, but only after setting sata mode from ide to ahci in bios.</description>

		<description>Guys neither of these worked for me - using 2007.0 i686 livecd. I followed instuctions elsewhere to make a bootable usb key. It didn't work - my key doesn't boot. Then it dawned on me - I put the USB key in and kicked off the CD - and when it looks for the CD it finds the USB key! Works...</description>

		<description>I have tried your options and it didn't work. 

What I have done and worked for me was: &lt;b&gt;gentoo all-generic-ide irqpoll pci=nommconf&lt;/b&gt; at which point it started to scan for the drive and found it.
