I followed instuctions elsewhere to make a bootable usb key. It didn't work - my key doesn't boot. Then it dawned on me - I put the USB key in and kicked off the CD - and when it looks for the CD it finds the USB key! Works... Guys neither of these worked for me - using 2007.0 i686 livecd. What I have done and worked for me was: <b>gentoo all-generic-ide irqpoll pci=nommconf</b> at which point it started to scan for the drive and found it.
